Search by toponym

Toponyms search client offers the possibility to locate hydrologic entities through a customizable query on toponyms. To that effect the user can search for:

• Toponyms with an exact name or containing part of a name.
• Toponyms from a concrete municipality.
• Toponyms belonging to a certain typology.
• Toponyms located within specific coordinates, etc.

The user will also have the option of visualizing the interest toponym or entity on the cartographic viewer. According to the designed classification, searchable toponyms are grouped in:

• Stream-gage station .
• Bathing water.
• River waterway.
• Reservoir.
• Automatic System of Hydrologic Information (SAIH).
• Surface water quality monitoring station.
• Lake.
• Spring.
• Ground water body.
• Coastal surface water body .
• Lake surface water body.
• River surface water body.
• Transitional surface water body.
• Piezometer/survey.

The representation on the search map method is carried-out in accordance to the recommendations from the Spanish Gazetteer Model, so that, for instance, river waterways are represented by an outlet marking, whereas polygonal entities –like hydrogeologic units- are represented by the minimum wrapping rectangle or bounding box.
